Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
337 AM MDT Sat Jul 19 2025
.SHORT TERM...Today through Monday night...A west-southwest flow
aloft will bring dry conditions across the region through the
weekend, although clouds will increase across the north and
become mostly cloudy on Sunday ahead of an approaching upper
trough in southwestern Canada. The trough enters the Pacific
Northwest on Monday for a 15-30 percent chance of showers and a
slight chance (less than 20 percent) of thunderstorms in
southeast Oregon and far SW Idaho (north and west of Boise)
Monday afternoon and evening. Precipitation totals are favored
to be light per latest model runs, with most locations
receiving less than a tenth (0.10) of an inch. Temperatures
through the weekend remain near to slightly below normal,
cooling to several degrees below normal on Monday due to the
passage of a cold front Sunday night. Winds will be breezy at
times each afternoon, especially in southern areas Monday
afternoon.
.LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday...Models and ensembles
remain in decent agreement through the period, depicting an
upper trough off the west coast and a dry southwest flow aloft
across our area. Some of the members hint at convection later
in the week, but the average probability within the blend of
models is less than 15 percent. Temperatures slightly below
normal on Tuesday warm to near normal on Wednesday with little
day-to-day change through Saturday.
